Mosca and Luini conquer Camboriú: second title for Argentine pair

Another important international achievement for Belen Mosca and Sofia Luini, the Argentine pair (pictured on the left) who on Sunday won the FIP Bronze Camboriú title. For the player from Arrecifes and the Buenos Aires native, it is their second title on the CUPRA FIP Tour, following their victory at the FIP Bronze Asuncion in Paraguay last April.

On their way to the trophy, Mosca and Luini defeated Giannina Minieri and Fiorella Propato San Martín in the semi-finals (6-2 6-2), before prevailing in an all-Argentine final against Antonella D’Angelo and Victoria Vilchez. After losing the first set in a tie-break, they raised their level, turning the match around and closing it out 6-7 6-2 6-2.

“We are very happy. It was a very tough match: we knew our opponents very well, we had already faced them and knew we were in for a difficult challenge,” Mosca said after the final. “I have to thank my partner, who played a great match, and also congratulate our opponents.”

Luini also shared her thoughts after the victory: “In the first set, both Belen and I were a little nervous. Even though we were not playing well, we reached the tie-break, but we lost it. From that moment, we started again from zero: we knew we could express a better level and we managed to do so. I think that was the key to the victory.”
