São Paulo, Day1. Top seeds start with a win: round of 16 and quarter-finals today

None of the eight seeded pairs at the FIP Gold São Paulo failed to win their opening match: all the top names in the men’s draw advanced to the second round, which will be played today. The women’s draw, featuring 16 pairs, will also get underway, while the quarter-finals will be played in the afternoon and evening. Number 1 seeds Alex Arroyo and José Jimenez defeated Correa/Escalona 6-3 6-4, while David Gala and Maxi Arce beat De Astoreca/Pinto 6-2 6-2. José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri also impressed, defeating Rivero/Gayone 6-1 7-6, as did Alex Chozas and Juani De Pascual, who beat Mambrini/De Marco 7-6 6-1. Juan Pablo Dametto and Luciano Puppo (8) were the only seeded pair to need a deciding third set to defeat wild cards Ensslin/De Avila Simonato.
