Turkey crowns Ayats-Chamero after their triumph in Izmir

IZMIR – The CUPRA FIP Tour has been a key feature of the summer with its tournaments. After their successes in August at FIP Silver Slam Collbató and FIP Bronze El Prat, both held in Catalonia, Arnau Ayats and Emilio Chamero claimed the final title of the summer by winning the FIP Bronze Izmir. The two champions secured their place in the final by defeating Simone Iacovino-Giulio Graziotti, before overcoming Marco Cassetta and Fabian Oviedo, the No. 2 seeds at the tournament, in the decisive match. In a closely contested match, Ayats and Sanchez won both sets in tie-breaks. “Champions of FIP Bronze Izmir!” said Ayats after the victory.

In the women’s draw, Catherine Rose-Rebeca Lopez claimed the Turkish title after defeating No. 1 seeds Marcella Koek-Ana Varo in two sets (6-4 6-1) in the final. In the semi-finals, the winners had defeated Nika Sluzhiteleva-Maria Portillo. For Rose, this was her third title of the year, following her victories at FIP Bronze Singapore and FIP Silver Dubai. Lopez, meanwhile, had claimed the title at the FIP Bronze in Frascati, Italy, at the beginning of August. “Difficult moments make the good ones even better,” said Rose. “I am proud of our weekend. Now we keep working. Thank you to everyone who supports me every day.”
