Lobo-Fernandez shine in Tunisia: the Spanish pair dominate the women’s draw

TUNISIA – At the beginning of October, 2007-born Carla Fernandez’s season in the CUPRA FIP Tour is already a dream season. With her victory alongside Marina Lobo at FIP Bronze The Mora Tunisia II, she claimed her seventh title of the season on the circuit. The two champions lifted the trophy after defeating No. 2 seeds Barbara Las Heras and Daria Kucheriavaia 6-4 6-2 in the final. For Lobo, meanwhile, this was her third title of the season, following her victories at the FIP Bronze events in Pembroke and Cordenons.

In the men’s category, the title was also won by the pair who topped the draw: Nacho Vilariño and Coquito Zamora. After overcoming Pedro Melendez-Mohamed Alami in the semi-finals, they prevailed in the title decider against Marco Cassetta, a 16-time CUPRA FIP Tour events winner, and Fabian Oviedo, 7-6 1-6 6-3. This was not Zamora and Vilariño’s first title together: in September, the two players triumphed at the FIP Silver in Guimaraes. “We have become champions in Tunisia,” the champions said after their victory. “Let’s go!”
