Luna and Meléndez target back-to-back titles: aiming for the Taunton crown

TAUNTON – Aiming for another title in Great Britain. Following their victory last week at the FIP Bronze Racourt in Alkmaar, Netherlands, Dani Luna and Pedro Meléndez are targeting another title at the FIP Bronze Ewh City Padel Taunton in Great Britain. However, the top seeds will face a tough challenge in their bid to lift the trophy. Their main rivals are Dutch pair Youp De Kroon and Julian Prins, who are targeting their third title of the year together following victories at the FIP Bronze Lotto in Poland and in Prishtina. Home favourite Christian Medina Murphy is also one to watch, as he takes to the court alongside Alberto Garcia. Other pairs to watch include Diego Arredondo-Victor Mena and Sergio Arias-Aaron Garcia.

The women’s draw at this CUPRA FIP Tour event is headed by Alba Vazquez, born in 2007 and winner of the FIP Bronze event in Singapore in April this year, and Patri Araus, who has won two FIP Bronze titles in Hong Kong. As in the men’s draw, the women’s competition also features a strong Dutch pair: Janine Hemmes-Stephanie Weterings. In mid-September, Hemmes secured the prestigious FIP Silver Bangkok title alongside Bo Luttikhuis. Also in contention are Paula Ferran-Susana Martin and Constança Gorito-Catarina Santos. The main draw will begin on Friday 23 September and conclude on Sunday 25 September, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.
