WOMEN In the women’s draw, the top three seeded pairs all qualified for the semi-finals, each winning their matches in two sets: 6-0 6-2 for Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay against Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda, 6-0 6-1 for Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria against Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga, and 6-1 7-6 for Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero against Claudia Jensen and Tamara Icardo. Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo, however, overturned expectations by defeating the fourth seeds Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo in three sets (6-0 4-6 6-2): a victory that sends Marta and Martina into the semi-finals against the world number ones.
