April 16, 2026
During the days in which Egypt is at the centre of the Padel world, with the leading players competing at the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza, FIP President Luigi Carraro met in Cairo with the Egyptian Minister for Sport, Gohar Nabil. The institutional meeting reaffirmed Egypt’s central role in the development of Padel across Africa.
As further confirmation of the country’s importance within the global Padel landscape, it was officially announced at the conclusion of the meeting between Luigi Carraro and Gohar Nabil that Egypt will host two key events in 2027: the FIP Africa Padel Cup and the FIP Junior Africa Padel Cup, which will respectively feature the top athletes and the leading emerging talents of continental Padel. During the meeting, the President of the Egyptian Padel Federation, Ahmed Ghatwary, was appointed President of the FIP African Committee, and significant attention was also given to the potential inclusion of Padel in the 2027 African Games. This represents an important opportunity for Padel, already at the centre of discussions between President Carraro and ANOCA President Mustafa Berraf during the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
