Seville, home pair Pineda-García claim the title

Winning is always special, but doing so at your home tournament is even more so. José Pineda and Diego García know this well, as they lifted the trophy at the FIP Bronze Icónico Sports in Seville following their victory in the final against the tournament’s n.1 seeds, Andrés Fernández Lancha and Mario Ortega (7-5 6-1), respectively n.60 and n.71 in the FIP Ranking. In the semi-finals, the champions had defeated the pair Karlos Rodriguez Vidal-Alejandro Garcia Calahorro (6-3 3-6 6-3). For both winners, this was their first success of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. In 2025, García had achieved a notable victory alongside “Curro” Cabeza at the Premier Padel P2 in Gijón. “We are Seville champions – said García after the win – What a week! I was very happy to be able to play in front of my home crowd. Thank you all”. Pineda also commented on the victory: “Champions! I am happy with the level we showed and to have been able to play in front of my family and friends”.

In the women’s draw, the title was claimed by the pair Amanda López-Laia Rodriguez, n.60 and n.36 in the FIP Ranking. After defeating Leti Manquillo and Noemi Aguilar in the semi-finals (6-2 6-4), they overcame the No. 1 seeds, Jana Montes (54) and Alix Collombon (34), in the match for the title (3-6 6-3 6-3). For the champions, this was not their first title of 2026: López had triumphed the previous week, also in Spain, at the FIP Bronze in Elche, while Rodriguez had won the FIP Bronze in Espoo, Finland, last March. “Champions in Seville – said Rodriguez after the victory -. We won this tournament after four very tough matches”.
