Day4. Tello and Arce continue their run. Top seeds into the quarter-finals, Chingotto and Galan made to work again
June 11, 2026
The South American clash between Maxi Arce and Juan Tello on one side, and Lucas Bergamini and Javi Garrido on the other, had a place in the Valencia P1 quarter-finals at stake. The Argentinians came out on top after a battle lasting two hours and 41 minutes: a 7-6 3-6 7-6 victory that makes Arce and Tello the only pair outside the top eight seeds to reach the quarter-finals, which begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Argentinians will face fellow countryman Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who were taken to a third set for the second consecutive match. After dropping a set against Curro Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez, the “Chingalan” pair had to come from behind (2-6 7-5 6-4) to defeat Tino Libaak and Alex Chozas, whom they had beaten comfortably a week earlier at the Foro Italico. In the bottom half of the draw, the other quarter-final will feature Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger (6-3 6-2 over José Diestro and Nacho Piotto) against Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal (the same scoreline against Fede Mouriño and Marc Quilez). In the top half, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia defeated Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri 6-4 6-1 and will face Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, who overcame Inigo Jofre and Jairo Bautista 6-2 6-7 7-6. Meanwhile, after a 6-1 6-3 victory over Marc Sintes and Dani Santigosa, Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno will take on Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, who later defeated Javi Garcia and José Jimenez 7-6 7-6.
WOMEN Seven of the eight seeded pairs reached the quarter-finals in the women’s draw as well, following the first-round elimination of Ale Alonso and Ale Salazar. The top four seeds — Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez, Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, and Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo — all began their campaigns with straight-sets victories. Three sets were required, however, for Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda (5-7 6-0 6-0) to overcome Virginia Riera and Teresa Navarro and secure a quarter-final against the top seeds. Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga also advanced in three sets, defeating Martina Fassio and Raquel Eugenio 7-6 5-7 6-4 to set up a meeting with Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero. In the bottom half, Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez will face Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo, who defeated Ariadna Cañellas and Lea Godallier 6-3 6-2. Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, meanwhile, will take on Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, who conceded just one game to Daiara Valenzuela and Ana Dominguez in the most one-sided match of the day.
