Turkey, Zurita and Melero dominate in Istanbul

Total domination: these two words perfectly describe the dream weekend enjoyed by Nico Zurita and Miguel Melero at the FIP Bronze in Istanbul, Turkey. The pair lifted the winners’ trophy thanks to a victory in the final against Thijs Roper and Héctor López Vázquez by 7-5, 6-3. In the semi-finals, the champions had defeated Sergio Nieto and Bentahor Espino (6-3, 6-4). Throughout the tournament, Zurita and Melero did not concede a single set. For Zurita, this was his second title of the year following his triumph at the FIP Bronze in Helsingborg, Sweden.

In the women’s draw, the pair formed by Claudia Ordóñez and Daniela Portilla claimed the title in Istanbul by winning the Turkish stop of the CUPRA FIP Tour. The two champions first defeated the tournament’s top seeds, Dora Andrejszki and Patri Ribeiro, in the semi-finals with a double 6-4 scoreline, before overcoming Nika Sluzhiteleva and Daria Kucheriavaia in the title match (6-2, 7-5).
