Dronten, Sten Richters seeks second triumph of the month

After a dream first half of July in which he claimed victory at the FIP Bronze Tbisili and reached the final of the FIP Silver Belfast, Sten Richters will be looking for another win at the FIP Bronze Dronten, which will be played in his home country: the Netherlands. The home player will take to the court alongside Sweden’s Albin Olsson. Leading the draw are the Portuguese pair of Pedro Araujo and Pedro Graça, winners this year of the FIP Bronze Madeira held at the beginning of February. The No. 2 seeds are Simone Cremona and Antonio Luque, who were defeated by Richters in the final of last weekend’s CUPRA FIP Tour event in Georgia. Thijs Roper and João Maria Caiano are also among the players to watch.

In the women’s category, there is also a player aiming for victory on home soil: Dutch player Bo Luttikhuis, who will share the court in Dronten with Patricia Araus. The former won the title at the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia this year, while the latter claimed the crown at FIP Bronze Hong Kong I and II. Their main rivals for the title are Martina Parmigiani and Ana Sanchez. This CUPRA FIP Tour event also features other competitive pairs: from Giulia Sussarello-Ivet Val Lopez to Lucia Perez-Clarinha Santos, as well as Jimena Diaz-Paula Ferran. The main draw of this tournament will begin tomorrow and conclude on Sunday 19 July, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.
