Pedro Melendez strikes again: Dublin title secured with Pincho Fernandez

Another memorable weekend for Pedro Melendez, who alongside Pincho Fernandez claimed another title, this time at the FIP Silver in Dublin. The 29-year-old from Seville arrived at the event after winning the FIP Bronze in Georgia eight days ago. Together with Fernandez, Melendez completed a perfect run to the final without dropping a single set. The decisive match against Adrian Ronco and Pepe Aliaga, the surprise package of the weekend, was won in a comeback (3-6 7-6 6-4), bringing Melendez’s CUPRA FIP Tour title tally to five, while Fernandez claimed his 12th title on the circuit.

 

In the women’s draw, Leti Manquillo and Noemi Aguilar secured their fourth title as a pair since the start of the year. The top seeds dominated from the opening match to the final, winning the tournament without losing a set. In the final, the duo defeated British pair Catherine Rose and Aimee Gibson 6-2 7-5. The eighth seeds had produced a major semi-final upset, overcoming second seeds Aida Martinez and Ana Dominguez 6-4 6-4.
