Spain completes the ‘double’ at the grand showcase of Europe’s best talents

From Hungary to Portugal, from Budapest to Porto. The city has changed, and so has the host nation, but the outcome remains the same: Spain has once again secured victory at the FIP Junior Euro Padel 2026, in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, repeating the double success achieved in the edition two years ago. In the final, the champions of the ‘Roja’ defeated the same national teams they overcame in the title matches on that occasion: Italy in the girls’ event and France in the boys’ event. On the final day of the competition, matches were also played to determine all remaining positions in the standings: the Italian boys and the Swedish girls secured third place with two strong victories.

 

Particularly moved was the FIP President Luigi Carraro, who at the end of the award ceremony stated: “It was a great sporting spectacle and a celebration of friendship. We are happy and proud to have experienced with these boys and girls an emotion they will never forget. The major continental team tournaments for young talents from so many countries represent a success in the present and a certainty for the future of our sport. These athletes, in the coming years, will write the history of Padel”. Also present for the presentation of the winners’ awards were the President of FPP Ricardo Da Silva Oliveira, the Vice-Presidents of FPP Jaen Paul Lares and Raul Amaral, the Deputy Mayor of the city of Porto Rodrigo Passos, the Vice-President of NOC Portugal Rosa Mota, Maria Jose Patricio of Mimosa, and the tournament supervisor Pablo De Zarraga.

 

BOYS The young talents of Spain concluded the 2026 edition by defeating France 3-0. In the match that opened the men’s final, Riesgo Mendez/Estabenez Estevez defeated Bessiere/Debroy (6-1 6-2), while in the second match Fuertes Leonardo/Delgado overcame Perrot/Huard De La Marre (6-2 7-6). In the final encounter, Zamora/Rivas prevailed over Robert/Guy De Chamisso (6-4 6-7 6-4). In the third-place match, Italy defeated Portugal 3-0, thereby denying the home players the opportunity to reach the podium in front of their supporters. The three victories were secured by the Italian pairs Rufo/Sarti, Miriello/Margani and Giovannini/Indomenico. Despite the disappointment of this defeat, the young Portuguese talents can take encouragement from the fact that fourth place represents an improvement compared to sixth place achieved in the previous edition. Sweden concluded its tournament in Portugal in fifth place, defeating Belgium 2-1 with victories from Dahlqvist/Lindh and Berg/Tull. Seventh place went to Denmark, who secured a 3-0 win in their match against the Netherlands.

 

GIRLS In the girls’ final as well, Spain displayed their full quality, defeating Italy 3-0. In the opening match, Garcia Molina/Fernandez Lopez overcame Conti /Scarcella (6-3 6-3), followed in the second and third matches by victories for Ferran/Vera and Portilla/Martin against Caruso/Speziali (6-4 6-1) and Giraldi/Minelli (6-1 7-5), respectively. The champions in red secured the title in dominant fashion: they did not drop a single set throughout the entire competition. Despite the defeat, the Italian girls can take great satisfaction in finishing second, replicating their 2024 result. In the third-place match, Sweden defeated Portugal 2-1: after winning the first match and losing the second, they secured victory in the decisive match thanks to a strong performance from Kjaergaard/Andersson. This result confirms the progress of Swedish padel development: in the previous edition of the FIP Junior Euro Padel Cup they had finished in sixth place. In the other matches played to determine the remaining positions, France finished fifth following a 2-1 win over Belgium, while the Netherlands secured seventh place with a clear 3-0 victory over Estonia.
