From Alcalá de Guadaíra to El Prat: Godallier and Valenzuela seeking another victory in Spain

One month after their triumph at the FIP Silver Alcalá de Guadaíra, French player Lea Godallier and Argentine Daiara Valenzuela, No. 53 and No. 59 respectively in the FIP Ranking, return to Spain aiming to claim the title at the FIP Bronze Padel Barcelona El Prat. The form of the No. 1 seeds at this CUPRA FIP Tour event is excellent: at the end of July, they also became champions at the FIP Silver in Porto, Portugal. In addition, the pair previously claimed the title at the FIP Silver in Narbonne, France, at the end of May. Godallier and Valenzuela will enter directly in the round of 16, receiving a bye in the opening round of the main draw. Their main challengers for the title are Nati Lopez and Aida Martinez, the No. 2 seeds. Lopez won the FIP Bronze events in Cyprus and Prishtina this year, while Martinez is seeking her first title of the season on the circuit. Also among the leading pairs in Spain will be Janine Hemmes-Bo Luttikhuis and Carmen Castillon-Maria Laura Ferreyra. The Wild Cards are Aina and Ariadna Valls Izquierdo.

Leading the men’s draw is the duo of Albert Roglan Pons, winner of the FIP Bronze in Kolding this year, and Manuel Aragon, who has been runner-up at the FIP Silver in Bari and the FIP Bronze in Rivesaltes this season. The No. 2 seeds in El Prat are Spaniards Emilio Sanchez and Arnau Ayats. At the beginning of the month, the pair triumphed in their home country by winning the FIP Silver Slam Collbató. Also worth watching are Dani Luna and Coquito Zamora. The latter became a champion with the Spanish junior national team at the FIP Junior Euro Padel Cup 2026, held between the end of June and the beginning of July. The entry list also includes Ferran Insa and Pau Miñano. The main draw of the tournament will begin on Friday 14 August and conclude on Sunday 16 August, when the two finals will be played.
