Bucharest, the biggest tournament in Romanian padel history. Gala-Jensen and Martinez-Manquillo lead the draws

Romania has already hosted two CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments in Timisoara, one in 2025 and one this year, but both were Silver events. Bucharest will now write another page in the history of local padel, with a FIP Gold event taking place from tomorrow – when the main draw gets underway – through to Sunday at the Nastase and Marica Sports Club, a venue with 12 courts. The Bucharest tournament will be the seventh FIP Gold of the season, with 150 FIP Ranking points up for grabs for the winning pairs. Leading the men’s draw will be David Gala and Enzo Jensen, who are coming off a first-round appearance at the Paris Major at Roland Garros. Also among the pairs expected to challenge for the title are Pablo Lijó and Xisco Gil (2), and Andres Fernandez Lancha and Denis Perino (3). The tournament will also give some local players – granted wild cards by the organisers – the opportunity to compete at the highest level of professional padel.

At the top of the women’s entry list are Lucia Martinez, winner of the FIP Gold San Luis in June, and Letizia Manquillo, who has already won four FIP Silver titles and one FIP Bronze this season. Araceli Martinez and Laura Lujan (2) are the main challengers, with Sandra Bellver and Ana Dominguez completing the top three seeds, having also come through the first round of the Major in Paris. Following the conclusion of qualifying, the main draw will begin on Thursday with the first round; the round of 16 and quarter-finals will be played on Friday, the semi-finals on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.  All matches played on centre court will be streamed live on the FIP YouTube channel.
