Iacovino ready to light up Sassuolo: after Taranto Medal, another chance for glory at home

From the bronze medal won in the men’s draw at the Mediterranean Games alongside Marco Cassetta, to a new objective: Simone Iacovino is aiming to triumph alongside Giulio Graziotti at FIP Bronze Sassuolo (Italy). The pair are looking to lift the winners’ trophy on home soil after losing the final of another CUPRA FIP Tour event in Italy at the beginning of August, the FIP Bronze Frascati. Iacovino has already shown a strong connection with Sassuolo, having reached the final of the 2025 edition of this tournament. This season, the “Azzurri” also came close to the title at FIP Bronze Bratislava, where they were finalists. They are now aiming to claim their first title of the year on this circuit. Their main opponents are Thijs Roper-Willy Slaryd, the No. 1 seeds and champions at FIP Bronze Mol (Belgium), held in mid-August. Also among the leading pairs are Marcos Cordoba-Alejandro Calvo, Miguel Morales-Mohamed Alami and Joel Olivera Palos-Matteo Platania.

Leading the women’s draw are Lucia Perez-Clarinha Santos, joint champions at FIP Bronze Dronten, held in July. This season, Santos also won FIP Bronze Dakar, while Perez celebrated victory at FIP Silver Dubai and FIP Bronze Singapore. The No. 2 seeds at this CUPRA FIP Tour event are the Dutch pair Janine Hemmes and Bo Luttikhuis. Other pairs entered include Alba Vazquez-Catarina Santos and Jimena Diaz-Ana Cristina Sanchez. The main draw of the tournament will begin on Friday 4 September and conclude on Sunday 6 September, when the semi-finals and finals in both categories will be played.
