The clash of the NextGen: Contreras and Graupera lead the draw in Paraguay

A very young pairing leads the draw at FIP Bronze Paraguay III, which gets under way on Friday in Asuncion. Argentine Santino Contreras, born in 2010, is targeting the sixth title of an excellent season — which would be his second in Paraguay — alongside compatriot Antonio Graupera, 17, another promising talent from “Albiceleste”. Challenging the number 1 seeds for the title will be a strong line-up of Argentine players, including number 2 seeds Santiago Rolla and Francisco Maier, the latter Contreras’ partner for the title they claimed in Castro, Chile, two weeks ago.

 

In the bottom half of the draw, Leonardo Yob and Naim Diaz (3) will also be among the players to watch, while in the top half, home player Facundo Dehnike stands out. Dehnike was part of the Paraguay team that qualified for the FIP World Cup in November and will partner Argentine Fabricio Ivan Peiron (4). Also representing the Albirroja are Pierre Petit Fernandez alongside Sebastian Rodriguez, and Samuel Rodriguez, who will partner Alejandro Lopez. After Friday’s opening day, the tournament will continue on Saturday with the second round and quarter-finals, while the semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday.
