Mateo Alvarez achieves a dream. First CUPRA FIP Tour title of his career comes in San Luis

The star of Mateo Alvarez (on the left in the photo) is shining in Mexico. The 25-year-old claimed the first victory of his career on the CUPRA FIP Tour, triumphing at the FIP Silver San Luis alongside Feli Calleja. The two champions, both Argentine, lifted the winners’ trophy after defeating compatriots Francisco Maier and Thiago Pinto in the final (6-4 6-7 6-3). In the semi-finals and quarter-finals, they had defeated Lautaro Mambrini-Matias Segura 6-1 6-4 and Jose Pablo Padilla-Amilcar Gaston Bejarano (6-4 7-6), respectively. For Calleja, the title in Mexico was his fifth of the season on the circuit and confirms the high level he has shown this year: in 2026, he had already won the FIP Silver events in Cordoba and Dubai, as well as the FIP Bronze events in Copiapo and Vina del Mar, both in Chile.

“Greetings to everyone in the crowd. I am immensely happy to have achieved my first victory on the CUPRA FIP Tour,” said Alvarez. “I am very happy to have played with Felipe. I dedicate this victory to my family, the team and also to myself.” Calleja also commented on the victory: “Congratulations to our opponents. I am very happy that Mateo has won the first title of his career on this circuit.”
