Ranera-Riesgo triumph once again: their third title of the summer comes in Salamanca
September 8, 2026
After the victories they secured in Burgos in July and Alhaurín de la Torre in August, Joel Ranera and Christian Riesgo completed their Spanish summer hat-trick by winning the Under 14 boys’ title at the FIP Promises in Salamanca. The top seeds defeated Marco Vega Velasco-Francisco Paralta Correia (6-0 6-3) in the semi-finals before overcoming Steven Guzman Jerez-Pedro Cabrera Cordon (6-4 6-3) in the final. Riesgo and Ranera are enjoying a dream season: in the first five months of the year, they claimed victories at the FIP Promises in Elvas, Setubal and Malgrat de Mar. These outstanding results have earned them the top position in the European Under 14 FIP Promises Ranking. “Champions of the FIP Promises in Salamanca!” said Riesgo. “Joel, you played really well. I also want to congratulate our very strong opponents in the final.”
In the Under 18 category, there was a major triumph for the No. 2 seeds, Leon David Ruiz Shannon-Daniel Beneyto Sanchez, who defeated in the final a player with considerable experience on the CUPRA FIP Tour, Samu Rivas, winner of the FIP Bronze Helsingborg last March. Born in Salamanca, he competed at this event of the circuit dedicated to young padel talents alongside Diego Rivas. In the girls’ category in the same age group, Candela De Soroa Jimenez-Vega Cano Ortin claimed the title after defeating Aina Extebarria-Ruth Petit Segarra (6-3 6-3) in the title decider. “We have become champions at this FIP Promises,” said De Soroa Jimenez. “Vega and I are very happy with the level we showed and with the partnership we have built together. Now we just need to keep training and developing.”
