Cassetta-Oviedo claim another title in Rovigo: 17 CUPRA FIP Tour victories for the Italian

ROVIGO – A victory just days after his call-up for the FIP World Cup in Doha and shortly before his debut at the Allianz Cloud for the OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1. Marco Cassetta celebrated his 17th CUPRA FIP Tour title – a record he shares with Gonzalo Rubio – alongside Fabian Oviedo at the FIP Bronze HUB 12 Occhiobello in Rovigo, Italy. They secured the win in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 7-6) against another Italian pair, Alessandro Volpin and Giulio Callegarin. “Great win, Peio! We’re delighted after a really tough weekend, but congratulations to our opponents for the level they showed throughout the tournament. You were absolutely incredible,” Cassetta said. For the Turin-born player and Oviedo, it was their third joint victory on the CUPRA FIP Tour, following their titles at the FIP Silver in Jersey Island and the FIP Bronze in Lelystad.

In the women’s draw, victory went to Anna Ortiz and Maria Laura Ferreyra, who has also just been called up to represent Argentina at the FIP World Cup in November. The second-seeded pair beat American Brittany Dubins and Spaniard Alba Gallardo in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). “We’re proud of our effort and fighting spirit,” Ortiz said. “This is only the beginning! A second title for this pair.”
