Varo-Landaburu and Bellver-Gallardo: the winning pairs in Cebu

CEBU – The CUPRA FIP Tour event held in the Philippines last week, the FIP Bronze High Velocity Cebu, was a great success. Women’s top seeds Alba Gallardo and Sandra Bellver lived up to expectations, claiming the title. After defeating Kae Tokumoto-Yoshino Kushima 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals, the champions secured victory in the final against Kotomi Ozawa-Anastasiia Ryzhova, winning 6-4, 6-2. Bellver-Gallardo dominated the tournament, winning every match without dropping a set.

There was also plenty of competitive action and spectacular play in the men’s draw, where Pablo Landaburu and Antonio Varo claimed the FIP Bronze High Velocity Cebu title. Landaburu had already won two events on the circuit this year, in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, while Varo had claimed the FIP Bronze title in Rivesaltes. The two champions defeated Sergio Icardo-Jordi Casanova in the final after a closely contested match that was decided by a tie-break in the third set (7-6, 4-6, 7-6).
