Coello and Tapia return to the Milan throne. Ari Sanchez makes history: title with Ustero and record of 58, matching Triay and Salazar
October 18, 2026
Paris, Rotterdam, Düsseldorf, now Milan. Four consecutive titles, three in the last three weeks: nobody seems capable of stopping Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, champions at the Allianz Cloud just as they were in 2024. The title, trophy and Champions’ Rings — NBA- and NFL-style rings — go to Coello and Tapia, but also to Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, who have won three of the last four tournaments. With her triumph in Milan, Ari also joins Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar at the top of the all-time list of most successful women’s players, with 58 titles. Another record for Sanchez, and another for the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1, which attracted 38,794 spectators, up 9.3% on the 2025 edition.
MEN Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger, whose only title of the season came in Brussels, had lost their last ten sets against Coello and Tapia. However, a break in the fifth game of the first set allowed them to end that run and hope to go even further. At 15-40 in the third game of the second set, Augsburger missed a smash that would have given the number 3 seeds a potentially decisive break. Coello and Tapia saved the third break point as well, held serve and then moved ahead with a star point in the following game. That was the turning point: the season’s dominant pair, now celebrating their 12th title of 2026, took the match into a third set, which began with another break created by a moment of magic from Tapia. Those two key moments, both in favour of Arturito and Agus, effectively decided the match, which ended 4-6 6-3 6-2. “Thank you so much to the Milan crowd. Winning here is a great feeling”, said Coello. “It was a very difficult match, especially because Leo and Juan played better than us in the first set. We had only one key to winning: to keep playing, and that’s what we did”. Tapia added: “An incredible week in a beautiful city. We ran, we fought, we gave everything we had in the third set of our third final in three weeks, and we did it. We’re delighted with this title; now it’s time to get some rest”.
WOMEN While Coello and Tapia secured their fourth consecutive title, Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero returned to winning ways after their victories in Paris and Rotterdam, following last week’s defeat in Düsseldorf. The final began in the worst possible way for the number 3 seeds, who were chasing their fifth title of the season. Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez led 5-2 in the first set but let their advantage slip, losing the set in a tie-break. In the second, a break proved decisive for Sanchez and Ustero, who closed out the match 7-6 6-3 with an X4 before celebrating on court. “I’m very happy with the record. It’s an honour to share it with two legends like them”, said Ari. “They’re great players, so it means I’m on the right track”, “What’s the first thing we’ll do with this ring? Take lots of photos”, Ustero promised.
Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will return in the final week of October with the Major in Kuwait. That tournament will be followed by the FIP World Cup, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from 2 to 7 November.
