Finland II, Vano and Pérez back in action in Espoo

They were in the spotlight at the FIP Silver in Sant’Elpidio until Lorena Vano’s injury stopped her from finishing the final. The Italian and her partner Alba Pérez are back at it in the FIP Bronze Finland II in Espoo, where the main draw kicks off on Friday. The Italian-Spanish pair opens a women’s draw packed with strong opponents, starting with Mary Montesi, who won in Sant’Elpidio with the Argentine Ferreyra and is now playing with Clarissa Aima (8). A possible semifinal rematch is on the cards, while in the lower half of the draw, British pair Catherine Rose and Tia Norton (2) stand out. Norton also comes from a final, the FIP Bronze in Westerbork last week with Steffie Weterings, who returns in Finland alongside Helena Wyckaert (4). Carla Fitó and Patricia Araus López are the No. 3 seeds, and other pairs in contention include Ainize Landa/Giorgia Rosi (5) and Carla Castillo with the Dutch Maaike Betz (6).

In the men’s draw, Christian Medina Murphy and Albin Olsson are the pair to beat. After two consecutive semifinals (Westerbork and Jersey Island), the Dutch pairs Thijs Roper/Sten Richters and Julian Prins/Youp De Kroon are also in the mix.
