February 23, 2026
Flavio Abbate and Alvaro Montiel decided to reunite with the aim of winning, as they had done on three occasions last year. The two Italian players achieved their objective in Agadir, Morocco, claiming the FIP Bronze title as the No. 4 seeds, with 40 ranking points on offer. It was a closely contested final against another Italian, Marco Cassetta, partnered with Spain’s Mario Huete: Abbate and Montiel secured the victory 6-3 2-6 7-5. “What a way to start the year”, said Abbate. “We continue to aim higher. Thank you to everyone who supported us this week”. “We deserved this title; we fought to obtain it and we achieved it”, added Montiel. “We know how much work it took”.
The victory enabled Abbate to gain seven positions in the ranking, moving up to No. 71; Montiel rises six places to No. 80.
