Day1. Garcia-Barahona, the ‘Javis’ win even apart
April 13, 2026
The separation of the long-standing pair formed by Javi Garcia and Javier Barahona has been one of the most significant developments in recent days in the world of padel. After four years, the ‘Javis’ have decided to go their separate ways, but both began their first Premier Padel tournament with new partners with a victory. Barahona teamed up with Gonza Alfonso, and together they defeated Jairo Bautista and Teo Zapata 6-3 4-6 6-4; Garcia, meanwhile, alongside José Jimenez, produced the standout result of the opening day, eliminating the number 6 seeds Momo Gonzalez and Martin Di Nenno 3-6 6-2 6-3. José Diestro and Maxi Sanchez Blasco, after overcoming Inigo Jofre and David Gala in straight sets, earned a round of 16 match against Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas.
After the first four matches of the men’s draw, the tournament will move into full swing tomorrow with 16 matches scheduled across three courts, with play starting at 9 CET.
