Ruiz-Dominguez vs Sánchez-Rubini: the clash for victory in Bari
April 22, 2026
Javi Ruiz and Facundo Dominguez, No. 40 and 70 in the FIP Ranking, arrive in Italy with a single objective: to win the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup in Bari. The two players are seeking their first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. In 2026, Ruiz, again in Italy, was a finalist at the FIP Silver in Caltanissetta, while last week he reached the round of 16 at the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza, Egypt. The main challengers to the tournament’s No. 1 seeds are Maxi Sánchez (50) and Juani Rubini (65), finalist at the FIP Bronze in Elche. These pairs are placed in opposite halves of the draw and could therefore meet only in a potential final. Also among the contenders for the title are Lucho Capra (93) and Agustin Torre (53), winner this year of the FIP Bronze in Bahrain. Other pairs in the main draw include Marco Cassetta-Jose Luis González, who won six tournaments together on this circuit last year, and the Italian wild cards Giulio Graziotti-Simone Iacovino.
After their defeat in last weekend’s final at the FIP Bronze in Seville, Alix Collombon (34) and Jana Montes (54) are aiming to respond immediately in Bari. The two players lead the women’s draw and have already secured a title this year on the CUPRA FIP Tour, having won the FIP Silver in Caen in January. The No. 1 seeds are positioned in the top half of the main draw alongside Italy’s Emily Stellato and Giulia Sussarello. In the opposite half is a highly competitive pairing of Aida Martinez (64) and Camila Fassio (76), who were semi-finalists last week at the FIP Silver in Nola. Among the registered pairs are also Carlotta Casali-Ana Dominguez.
