Italy, Jiménez and García shine in Teramo

José Jiménez and Javi García continue their winning run: after last week’s victory at the FIP Silver Gran Canaria, they also triumphed at the FIP Silver Horama in Teramo, Italy, following their final win against Dani Luna and Adrián Márques (6-3 4-6 6-2). On their way to the title, they had overcome in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively the pairs Francisco Britos-Gonzalo Sassano (6-0 7-6) and Robert Belmont-Manuel Aragón (7-6 6-3). García and Jiménez, ranked No.21 and No.34 in the FIP Ranking, secured their third title of the season on the CUPRA FIP Tour: in March they had won the FIP Bronze Netherlands. Next week they will compete in the Premier Padel P1 in Buenos Aires, following their strong result at the P2 in Newgiza, Egypt, where they reached the quarter-finals. “We managed to win a really tough tournament – said Jiménez after the triumph -. Javi and I made a great effort to achieve this result: now we must continue our path in a positive way”. García also commented: “I am very happy with this title victory”.
In the women’s draw, the Spanish pair Barbara Las Heras (62) and Carla Mesa (63) defeated the italian duo Emily Stellato-Carolina Orsi, the top seeds of the tournament, in the final in straight sets (6-2 6-4). The champions maintained a high level of performance throughout the event and did not drop a single set. In addition, in the semi-finals they had overcome another Italian pair, Giorgia Rosi-Martina Parmigiani, by 6-2 6-2. “Thank you Teramo! We are champions – said Las Heras after the victory -. For us it has been a great experience. We must continue like this”. Mesa also commented on the result: “It has been a great tournament for us: we produced excellent performances”.
