Egypt, Luna-Insa pair favourites in Alexandria
May 13, 2026
The CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Egypt with the FIP Bronze Alexandria III. The clear favourites for victory in the men’s draw are the tournament’s number 1 seeds, Dani Luna and Ferran Insa. This year, Luna has won the FIP Bronze tournaments in Baku (Azerbaijan) and Burriana (Spain), and was finalist at last week’s FIP Silver in Teramo. Insa, meanwhile, is targeting his first title of the year on the circuit. Their main rivals are the winners of the FIP Bronze Hong Kong I and II tournaments, Pablo Reina and Miguel Melero. Also under the spotlight are Christian Medina Murphy and Alberto Garcia, finalists last April at the FIP Silver in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Also entered in Alexandria are Jaime Pérez and Egyptian player Wagdy Raslan.
In the women’s draw, the battle for the title will see FIP Silver Caen finalist Anna Ortiz, who will play alongside Maria Laura Ferreyra, face the pair formed by Carla Fernandez and Nerea Guerra. The latter have already claimed three titles on the CUPRA FIP Tour in 2026: the FIP Bronze and Silver events held in Melbourne at the beginning of the year, and the Spanish FIP Bronze in Isla de la Palma at the end of April. Also among the leading pairs in the Egyptian stop of the circuit are Dora Chamli-Anastasiia Ryzhova and Maaike Betz-Simone Alipieva.
