Romania, González Blanco and Mena triumph in last tournament together

The partnership between Marcos González Blanco and Víctor Mena could not have ended in a better way. In their final tournament together, the two players claimed their fourth title as a pair in 2026 thanks to victory at the FIP Silver in Timisoara, Romania. In the final, the champions defeated Clément Geens and Andrés Graupera after a very balanced match that ended with a double 7-6 scoreline. Earlier in the tournament, the champions had beaten Albert Roglan Pons-Manuel Aragón Herrera in the semi-finals (7-6 6-4), while in the quarter-finals they overcame Marcos Córdoba-Borja Trujillo in three sets (6-3 6-7 6-3). González Blanco and Mena had already triumphed this year at the FIP Silver events in Wadi (Egypt) and Caltanissetta (Italy), as well as at the recent FIP Bronze in London. “Champions of the FIP Silver RomaniaGonzález Blanco said after the victory -. Thank you very much for this period together, during which we achieved excellent results and competed against pairs of the highest level. I wish you all the best for your new adventure”. Mena also commented: “With this tournament, my journey alongside Marcos comes to an end. We finished in the best possible way”.

In the women’s draw, Italy’s Clarissa Aima and Caterina Baldi claimed the title thanks to a convincing 6-3 6-0 victory in the final against Jimena Díaz and Ainize Santamaria. In the semi-finals, the queens of Timisoara had defeated one of the pairs favoured for the title: Carlotta Casali and Ana Domínguez. Aima and Baldi continue their excellent run of form as they secure their second title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour following their triumph at the FIP Bronze in Montesilvano, in Italy. The two players did not concede a single set throughout the tournament.
