“Bleu” celebrations at the FIP Bronze in Marnes, held over the weekend just a few kilometres from Paris. In the French city, three home players — Lea Godallier in the women’s draw, and Jeremy Robert and Olivier Guy de Chamisso in the men’s draw — claimed victory on the courts of Forest Hill. For 18-year-old Robert and 17-year-old Guy de Chamisso, two of the country’s leading young talents, it was their first title on the CUPRA FIP Tour. The victory came thanks to a 6-3 6-4 win in the final against the Italian-Spanish pair Nicolas Zurita and Samuel Rivas, at the end of a tournament in which they saved a match point in their opening match against fellow French players Courrin/Seux, before producing a comeback victory in the semi-finals against Zamora/Calahorro (2-6 7-6 6-4).
“First international title with Olivier,” said an emotional Robert after the tournament. “What a joy to win our first FIP title at home, in front of our crowd. Unforgettable feelings throughout all three days, and I’m proud of the level we showed on court. We stayed united and pushed each other through the difficult moments. The work is starting to pay off and this is only the beginning.” “The emotions are impossible to describe,” added his partner. “Thank you Jeremy, and thank you to all my family: they truly helped us perform at our best.”
A fourth title meanwhile for French number two Lea Godallier, returning after an ankle injury. Making her debut alongside Lucia Peralta, the European runner-up with France defeated Maria Ferreyra and Daiara Valenzuela 7-6 6-3. It was a flawless run for the winning pair, who claimed the title without dropping a set. “After a few difficult weeks, I called Lucia to play this tournament,” said Godallier after the victory. “She is an incredible person on a human level. Thank you for making me enjoy myself so much on court.” “Thank you Lea,” replied Peralta. “For me, it was truly special to share all of this with you and your family, at your home.”
