The Foro Italico, one of the most iconic venues in world sport, has once again turned blue for the fifth edition of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel, with Rome welcoming the world’s best players for an unmissable week of competition. In the men’s draw, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán are targeting a third consecutive title following their victories in 2024 and 2025. In the women’s tournament, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay will defend the title they won last year while also attempting to end the run of five consecutive tournament victories achieved by Paula Josemaría and Bea González. The leading players are already in Rome, with Ari Sánchez, Andrea Ustero, Arturo Coello and Giulio Graziotti taking part in the draw ceremony for the main draws, which begin on Tuesday following the conclusion of qualifying.
MEN A total of 48 pairs will compete in the men’s tournament, with the top 16 seeded pairs receiving a first-round bye. Coello and Tapia will begin their campaign against Italians Flavio Abbate and Alvaro Montiel or a pair from qualifying. In the top half of the draw are Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, winners of the FIP Platinum Albania in Tirana, who will face Italians Simone Iacovino and Giulio Graziotti or Castano/Gil in their opening match. In the bottom half, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán will start against Libaak/Chozas or Mouriño/Quílez and could meet Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger (4) in the semi-finals. Lebrón and Augsburger have been drawn against Sánchez Blasco/Gutiérrez or a qualifying pair. There is also significant interest in the reunion of Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno, finalists in the inaugural edition of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel in 2022. The projected quarter-finals are: Coello/Tapia (1) vs Garrido/Bergamini (8), Di Nenno/Navarro (6) vs Yanguas/Stupaczuk (3), Lebrón/Augsburger (4) vs Nieto/Sanz (5), and Leal/Guerrero (7) vs Chingotto/Galán (2).
WOMEN After five consecutive titles, Paula Josemaría and Bea González face the challenge of the Major and a tournament won last year by Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. The women’s main draw features 40 pairs, with the top four seeds (Brea/Triay, Josemaría/González, Sánchez/Ustero and Fernández/Araújo) receiving a bye into the round of 16. It will be the final appearance at the Foro Italico for the legendary Ale Salazar, who, following her runner-up finish in Tirana, will begin against Rodríguez/Dal Pozzo or Bellver/Merino. Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda, champions in Albania, will open against Cánovas/Rodríguez or Gómez/Arellano. The projected quarter-finals are: Brea/Triay (1) vs Icardo/Jensen (5), Salazar/Alonso (7) vs Fernández/Araújo (4), Sánchez/Ustero (3) vs Guinart/Virseda (8), and Ortega/Calvo (6) vs Josemaría/González (2).
