Day6. First final for Fernandez-Araujo: Sofia meets Ustero again. Men: another ‘Clasico’

Following the quarter-final results, it was guaranteed that a new pair would reach their first Premier Padel final of the season. Competing for the Valencia P1 title will be Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, who defeated Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo 6-3 6-2 in the semi-final from the bottom half of the draw. On Sunday, Fernandez (who played in and won the last final at the 2025 Barcelona Finals) and Araujo (who has not lifted a trophy since Bordeaux last July) will not face Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who, for the first time after 13 consecutive finals between the end of 2025 and the start of 2026, will not contest the title match. The top seeds were beaten in three sets, 7-5 2-6 6-4, by Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, who avenged their defeat in the Rome Major final and will now aim for their second title of the season after winning in Riyadh at the opening tournament of the year. It was also alongside Ustero that the Portuguese player won her most recent title.

MEN If the women’s final, starting at 14:00, will be a first-time matchup, the men’s final, scheduled not before 16:00, will be the 36th chapter of the endless rivalry between the two strongest pairs in the world. Just as it was a week ago in Rome, and as had already happened in the 2026 finals in Riyadh, Gijon, Miami, Asuncion and Buenos Aires, Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will battle for the title at La Fonteta, with Coello and Tapia leading the head-to-head record 22-13, including their victory last Sunday at the Foro Italico. Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger won the first set of the opening semi-final before being overturned 4-6 6-3 6-4; in the second semi-final, Coello and Tapia defeated Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 6-2 6-2.
