Argentine celebration in Camboriú: Contreras and Lopez take the spotlight
July 27, 2026
An increasingly unforgettable 2026 for Santino Contreras, the Argentine talent born in 2010 who this year became the second-youngest player ever to compete in the main draw of a Premier Padel tournament, in Buenos Aires. Contreras added another title in the other world circuit of the International Padel Federation, the CUPRA FIP Tour: after his victories at the FIP Bronze events in Santa Maria and Lanzarote, the player from Misiones claimed his first FIP Silver title in Camboriú, Brazil, alongside compatriot Facundo Lopez, also from Misiones. The pair defeated two other Argentine players, Fabricio Peiron and Santiago Rolla, in the final (7-5 6-2). Lopez further confirmed his excellent run of form after winning the FIP Gold Shanghai and the FIP Bronze La Nucia in just over a month. “A beautiful weekend shared with the people I love the most. Well played, Santino!” Lopez said. “Thank you to your family for all the support!”.
For both players, the Camboriú triumph – achieved without dropping a single set – brings valuable points in the FIP Ranking. Lopez climbs six positions and enters the world’s top 100 for the first time, reaching No. 97: the highest ranking of his career. Contreras’ rise is even more significant, as he climbs 35 places to No. 175, also achieving the best result so far in his professional career.
