Spanish pair Ortuño De Pablo-Iglesias dominate in Turin

From Argentina to Mexico, via Great Britain and Belgium, the FIP Promises Sanremo Padel Experience–Turin III brought together young padel talents from a range of countries. In the boys’ Under 18 category, the Spanish pair of Andres Ortuño De Pablo and Hugo Iglesias claimed the title. After defeating fellow Spaniards Alvaro Moreno Herrera and Rafael Reyes Moreno 7-6 7-5 in the semi-finals, the champions went on to overcome Italy’s Pietro Giovannini and Edoardo Riso 6-2 6-4 in the title match. “We became champions in Turin. Thank you, everyone,” said Ortuño De Pablo after the victory. Iglesias also reflected on the result: “Champions of this tournament after playing three difficult matches in which we performed at a very high level. My partner Andres played a truly outstanding tournament.”

In Turin, alongside the four boys’ draws (Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18), the NextGen girls also took to the court. The young pairs competed for the Under 14 title. Sophie Lucernoni and Elizabeth Vellacott claimed the trophy with a 6-1 6-0 victory over Noa Alcaraz Serna and Maria Cerquetelli in the final.
