Piltcher returns to Egypt in pursuit of her second triumph of the year in the country

In padel, some players develop a special connection with certain venues. Raquel Piltcher, No. 66 in the FIP Ranking, is one such player when it comes to Egypt. More than five months after winning the FIP Bronze Wadi, the Brazilian returns to the country aiming to repeat that success by claiming the FIP Bronze Playa title. Her February triumph came alongside Daiara Valenzuela, with whom she also reached the last 16 of the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza last April. This time, however, Piltcher will partner Greece’s Christina Styliani Ntanou, who is chasing her first CUPRA FIP Tour title. The pair are the tournament’s No. 1 seeds, but they will have to overcome strong opposition to lift the trophy. Among the leading challengers are Anastasiia Ryzhova and Aitana Garcia (2). Ryzhova was runner-up at the FIP Bronze Baku earlier this year. Also among the leading contenders are Angelina Neizvestnaya and Elsa Terranova (3), along with Ana Sanchez and Marisol Fernandez (4).

The men’s draw is headed by Roberto Belmont and Guillem Figuerola. In mid-July, the pair secured an important CUPRA FIP Tour victory by winning the FIP Silver Pingyuan in China. This Egyptian stop therefore provides an opportunity to confirm the excellent form they have shown in recent weeks. Also among the leading contenders are Guillermo Fernandez and Alvaro Pozo (2), Wagdy Raslan and Jaime Perez Martin (3), and Leonid Poliakov and Sergio Tierno Herrero (4). Jorrit Hazebroek and Adrian Baamonde (5) are also among the entries. The main draw will begin on Thursday 30 July and conclude on Saturday 1 August, when both the semi-finals and finals will be played.
