Ceuta, From Lamperti to Nati Lopez Diaz: legends shine again in Spain

The CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Spain. This weekend, the FIP Silver Ceuta will take place (Ceuta is a Spanish autonomous city in North Africa, surrounded by Morocco) with both men’s and women’s draws.

Leading the men’s draw is the legendary Argentine Miguel Lamperti and Spaniard Mario Del Castillo, ranked 92 and 63 in the FIP ranking. They recently reached the quarterfinals at the FIP Gold Potosí and played a strong match in the first round of the Paris Major against Javi Rico and Nacho Sager. On the other side of the draw is the top-seeded pair Mario Huete (74, winner of the FIP Silver Perugia) and Mario Ortega (75, who reached the quarterfinals at the P1 Tarragona).

The women’s draw is led by Nati Lopez Diaz and Lucia Garcia, ranked 77 and 65 in the FIP ranking. They recently played in the first round of the Alpine Paris Major Premier Padel, almost upsetting Bidahorria-Arruabarrena, and they won the FIP Bronze Vilamoura last week. It was the 11th career title on the CUPRA FIP Tour for Lopez Diaz, making her once again the most successful player in the tour’s history. For Garcia, it was her 10th title, 7 of them won with her fellow Spaniard. On the other side of the draw is the Dutch pair Bo Luttikhuis and Janine Hemmes, who won the FIP Silver Veracruz together in July.

The tournament will be held in Ceuta and will award 80 points for the FIP ranking.
