Kazakhstan, Spotlight on Rubio-Ruiz in Almaty
September 26, 2025
The win at the FIP Silver Palermo in June, then the Silver Crete in July, followed by success at the FIP Silver Oeiras three weeks ago. In the FIP Silver Kazakhstan – a new stop of the CUPRA FIP Tour in the Asian country – Gonzalo Rubio is looking for his fourth title in as many months. Together with Javi Martinez (winner of the FIP Silver Lleystad in July), the world number 40 leads a men’s draw of 32 pairs. Also in action is Boris Castro, champion of the FIP Bronze Oeiras, partnering with Rodrigo Coello (brother of world number one Arturo and winner of the FIP Bronze Houten this year).
The women’s main draw is led by Marta Talavan (winner of the FIP Silver Giulianova and the FIP Silver Dubai) and Sofia Saiz, chased by Carolina Navarro (former world number one who announced her retirement at the end of the year) with her partner Monica Gomez.
