Day5. Calvo’s first final. Salazar, one year later. Sanz and Paquito take their shot
October 31, 2025
Seventeen years, three months and twenty-four days, that’s the new record for the youngest player ever to reach a final on the Premier Padel circuit. Given Martina Calvo’s performance and growth throughout 2025, it was only a matter of time. The moment arrived in Egypt, in Newgiza, alongside Alejandra Salazar, a star who keeps on shining. Together they had already won the FIP Platinum in Lyon, and together tomorrow (starting at 4.30 p.m. local time, 2.30 p.m. CET) they will play for the title at the Premier Padel Newgiza P2, a title that Salazar came close to winning last year, when she reached the final with Jessica Castelló, the last of three Premier finals that season, all of which she lost. In the first semifinal, Calvo and Salazar defeated Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo 6-4 6-2, and tomorrow they will try to overcome Paula Josemaría and Ari Sánchez, who have already claimed five titles in 2025 and will be aiming to repeat their triumph in Milan, the last Premier event played before this one in Egypt. In the second semifinal, Paula and Ari had to battle for three sets and two hours and sixteen minutes before prevailing 6-2 4-6 6-4 against Andrea Ustero and Sofia Araújo, who, like Ortega, were defending the title they won in 2024.
MEN The men’s title will be contested by the No. 1 and No. 4 seeded pairs. At the top of the draw, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan – chasing their seventh title of the season and second in a row after Milano – beat Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas 6-3, 6-3, with the latter pair coming off an almost three-hour battle in the quarterfinals against Gonzalez/Guerrero. In the bottom half, the elimination of Juan Lebrón and Franco Stupaczuk – who will play together for the last time in Dubai, since at the Acapulco Major the Superpibes (Stupa/Di Nenno) will reunite and Lebrón will team up with Augsburger – opened up the draw for Paquito Navarro and Jon Sanz, the No. 4 seeds. In the evening, they defeated Javi Leal and Lucas Bergamini (who started the season alongside Paquito) 6-1 4-6 7-5. For Sanz, winner of the 2024 Premier Padel Finals with Coki Nieto, this will be his first final of the season; for Paquito, his second after Buenos Aires and eighth overall, with one win and six losses so far.
