From Malaga P1 quarter-finals to Alicante, Lopez-Cañellas lead the seeding

From the quarter-finals of the Malaga P1 to the pursuit of the title at the FIP Bronze San Juan de Alicante – El Salt. Eighteen-year-old Amanda Lopez restarts alongside Ariadna Cañellas as the tournament’s top seeds, with the main draw getting underway on Friday, aiming for further progress in the FIP Ranking after recently reaching No. 57, the highest position of her career so far. Among the 32 pairs in the draw are also French player Carla Touly and Xènia Clascá (2), who lead the bottom half of the draw. On their potential path, in the semi-finals, they could face the partner with whom Clascá won her last two CUPRA FIP Tour titles, Lorena Vano, who this time teams up with Carmen Castillon as the No. 3 seeds. Among the young talents are also 17-year-olds Claudia Ordoñez and Daniela Portilla (6), who return to the court after narrowly missing out on the title match at the FIP Bronze in La Coruña last Sunday.

 

Leading the men’s draw are Guillem Figuerola and Roberto Pastor, looking for their second title in a month after their triumph in China at the beginning of July. They will face competition from Daniel Luna and Nacho Moragues (2), as well as Miguel Morales and Oliver Artigas (3). After Friday’s opening day, the tournament continues on Saturday with the second round and quarter-finals, while the semi-finals and finals will take place on Sunday.
