The draws Tour comes back to South America. Many new pairs in Paraguay

After the P1 in Santiago last March, the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour comes back to South America. Two tournaments will be played in a row, the first in Asunción, the second in Buenos Aires. They start again in Paraguay, where a year ago Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia triumphed among the men and Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez among the women. Coello and Tapia still play as a pair, and in Brussels they won their third title; Brea and Gonzalez, on the other hand, decided to part ways in 2025. And speaking of new paths, the Paraguayan one will be the first tournament for many new pairs.

MEN There will be 32 in the men’s draw at the P2 in Asunción, which is being played at the Ueno SND Arena. Coello and Tapia will start their tournament against brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus; on the other side, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) against wild cards Martin Abud and Mariano Agustin Gonzalez. Completing the podium are Franco Stupaczuk – who is returning to the court after injury – and Juan Lebron, who are expected to face a qualified pair in their debut. Among the new “parejas”, eyes on the number 8 seed, with Edu Alonso who will play with Jairo Bautista, after the latter’s separation from Fran Guerrero. Possible quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Bergamini/Navarro (7), Gonzalez/Sanz (5)-Stupaczuk/Lebron (3), Yanguas/Nieto (4)-Di Nenno/Tello (6), Alonso/Bautista (8)-Chingotto/Galan (2).

WOMEN The women’s draw will feature 24 pairs, with Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria – winner in Brussels in the last tournament played – leading the main draw: debut against Guinart/Iglesias or Barrera/Caparros. Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay are the number 2 seed: four titles for them in 2025 and debut against wild cards Acuna/Cepede or Collombon/Martinez. Behind Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez (3), expected in the round of 16 (the 8 seeds have a bye in the first round) by a qualified pair or Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo (new pair), there is great curiosity about two other pairs making their debut in Paraguay, Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero (4) and Marta Ortega (with the Portuguese player until Brussels) and Ale Alonso, who played with Ustero. Hypotetical quarter-finals: Sanchez/Josemaria (1)-Ortega/Alonso (5), Icardo/Jensen (8)-Gonzalez/Fernandez (3), Araujo/Ustero (4)-Sainz/Llaguno (6), Salazar/Virseda (7)-Brea/Triay (2).
