Coello and Tapia end 2025 on the throne. First Major for Fernandez and Gonzalez

For Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia, Claudia Fernandez and Bea Gonzalez, but also for all padel fans, it was an unforgettable night. Under the Acapulco sky, Arturito and Agus were playing to confirm themselves as world No. 1; Claudia and Bea were chasing their first Major together. The Mexican crowd cheered and celebrated them in two finals that both ended in straight sets. Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan also left the court to great applause, just as it had happened to Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who had won the first three Majors of the season (Doha, Rome, Paris) but who were forced to bow to their former partners, who had also won the Dubai P1 before Acapulco. For Fernandez, it is also her second consecutive triumph in Mexico, after the 2024 title won with Gemma.

MEN The first break of the final came in the third game, with Coello and Tapia immediately showing their determination to defend last year’s title. In the second set, however, Chingalan were ahead by a break and even led 5–2 before the great comeback by the world No. 1 pair, who eventually closed it in the tiebreak (6-4, 7-6 the final score). “It’s time to reap everything we have sown”, said Tapia. “I play with an ‘animal’ next to me, and I hope this lasts until the day I retire. We’re happy to win in such a special country as Mexico, where padel was born”. “First of all, I want to congratulate Fede and Ale for always making it to the finals”, said Coello. “But we fought incredibly well, and this title is for us, for our team, for our families. And if Agustin leaves me, I’ll retire”.

WOMEN Bea Gonzalez won her first Major title after a 6-2, 6-4 victory in 1 hour and 32 minutes, with a first set already tilted in her favor after just a few games. In the second set, the No. 3 seeds again secured the first break, before the comeback attempt from Brea and Triay, who were already sure of finishing 2025 atop the rankings. Another break at 5–4, however, proved decisive. “We’re super happy”, said Claudia. “Coming to Mexico is always special for me, and so is winning my first Major with Bea”“We really wanted to confirm ourselves after winning in Dubai”, added Bea. “We wanted this first Major badly, and to beat Delfi and Gemma we had to play incredibly well, at our absolute best”.

The 2025 Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will conclude in Barcelona from December 11 to 14 with the Premier Padel Finals. Coello, Tapia, Brea and Triay are all guaranteed to finish the season as world No. 1, but the excitement is far from over.
