Alcaraz between padel show and jokes: “Sinner and I against Tapia and Coello? We would win!”

“Sinner and I against Coello and Tapia in padel? We would win, without a doubt”. Carlos Alcaraz says it with the smile of someone joking, though not entirely: recently defeated at the Miami Masters 1000 by Sebastian Korda, the Spaniard stayed in Miami and, before returning to Europe, enjoyed the padel spectacle. Welcomed by FIP President Luigi Carraro, Premier Padel CEO David Serrahima, and the legend Fernando Belasteguin, director of the Miami P1, Alcaraz returned to the Convention Center for the second consecutive year and greeted many friends.
He embraced Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello, then Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk, before taking his seat in the front row of the VIP stands next to President Carraro to watch the matches. “I’ve also been getting into padel recently”, said the world No. 1 in tennis. “Just a few days of training and…”. “And you’ll beat everyone”, Carraro replied jokingly.
But who would be the toughest tennis player to face in padel, according to Alcaraz? “Definitely someone with good touch, for example Dimitrov. But also Zverev, perhaps also because of his height and his smashes”. And in padel? “In padel, everyone”. And one thing is certain: Alcaraz would manage well with a padel racket too. He enjoys the sport and finds it fun; he had watched it live for the first time exactly a year ago in Miami and wanted to return for another experience.
