A season to remember for González Blanco: his sixth title of the year comes in Bali

Winning is difficult, but maintaining the consistency to keep doing so many times over the course of a season is even more challenging. Last weekend, Spain’s Marcos González Blanco claimed victory at the FIP Silver Bali Island Sport, securing his sixth title of 2026. He had already triumphed at the FIP Silver tournaments in Timisoara, Caltanissetta and Wadi, in Narbonne and at the FIP Bronze in London. The victory in France came alongside the same partner with whom he claimed the title in Indonesia: Martin Abud. After defeating Sergio Icardo-Jordi Casanova in a closely contested semi-final decided in three sets (4-6 6-3 6-4), the pair went on to beat Borja Trujillo Chang-Miguel Morales 6-1 6-4 in the final. “FIP Silver champions in Bali. Martin, we have to keep this going,” said González Blanco. Paraguay’s Abud also commented on the victory: “Champions! Thank you to my entire team for their support and for being there every step of the way”.

In the women’s draw, there was a major victory for the No. 2 seeds at this CUPRA FIP Tour event: Nerea Guerra-Carla Fernandez. The pair defeated Jimena Diaz and Alba Vazquez 6-1 4-6 6-0 in the final. They had reached the title decider after overcoming No. 1 seeds Virginia Riera-Kahrizi Zahra in the semi-finals. The champions had defeated Elsa Terranova-Angelina Neizvestnaya 6-4 6-0 in their semi-final. For Guerra and Fernandez, the title in Indonesia was their sixth together this year, following their victories at the FIP Silver in Melbourne and the FIP Bronze tournaments in A Coruña, Isla de la Palma, Selangor and Melbourne.
