From Europe to Africa: four new stops for the NextGen

Two stops in Europe and two in Africa. The FIP Promises Tour adds four new events this week, taking place in Turin (Italy), Aveiro (Portugal), Newgiza (Egypt) and Johannesburg (South Africa).

In the Italian city, more than 80 pairs will be on court until Sunday at the Palavillage. Among the players to watch are Matteo Quatrana and Alessandro Guadagnino, top seeds in the boys’ Under 18 draw. In the girls’ Under 18, the spotlight is on Italy’s Rambelli/Raimondi (3), Spain’s Ibañez/Prados (2) and the Dutch pair Anshika and Rishita Rajagopal (1). There will be two girls’ draws —Under 18 and Under 16— and four boys’ categories fighting for the titles (U12, U14, U16 and U18). From Under 12 to Under 18, Aveiro will also be buzzing with action. Among the more than 100 registered pairs are Portuguese standouts Francisca Bragança and Beatriz Costa Silva, as well as Spain’s Izan Ranera and Samuel Rivas, who top the Under 18 draw.

Egypt’s NextGen will take center stage at the Newgiza Sports Club, venue of the Premier Padel P2, with the finals of six draws —four boys’ and two girls’— scheduled for Saturday. All eyes will be on young local talent Saed Abdelhady, teaming up with Youssef Alaa and currently ranked No. 3 in the FIP Promises Africa Under 12 ranking. The No. 1, South Africa’s Muhammad Kardamey, will compete in Johannesburg alongside Yusuf Hamza in a tournament that also attracted nearly 100 entries across eight draws.
