Mallorca, a special last time for Moyano: “Playing with my son is a dream”
January 21, 2026
Father and son together on the court: for one, the final tournament of a fantastic career — which includes the 2012 World Championship with Argentina — and for the other, his debut in top-level international padel. Ramiro and Juan Pedro “Juanpe” Moyano are among the main highlights of the FIP Bronze Mallorca (Spain), running until Sunday at the Rafa Nadal Academy, where the 36-year-old player — who announced his retirement last November — has recently joined as a coach. “This is going to be my last tournament as a professional player, and I’ll have the privilege of playing it with my son”, Moyano said. He had already shared at the end of the year that this was one of his biggest wishes. “I’m living a dream, and I can only thank life for giving me this opportunity. I couldn’t imagine a better way to finish. For me, this will be the last tournament, and for him, the first. Playing here feels like playing at home, and that makes me feel happy and grateful”.
Juanpe, 14, is Moyano’s eldest son. He grew up in Argentina, where he played his first professional tournaments, before his imminent debut on the CUPRA FIP Tour, scheduled for Friday. This will also be a first for the International Padel Federation circuit, as a father and son have never competed together before. A similar situation occurred less than two years ago at the European Padel Championships in Cagliari, when Hungary fielded Noa Haddad alongside her mother, Alexandra “Sandy” Hole.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS In addition to the Moyanos, the men’s draw at FIP Bronze Mallorca features 31 other pairs. The top seeds are Antonio Fernández and José Luis González, while Mario del Castillo and Ignacio Vilariño are progressing from the lower half of the draw. Pedro and Álvaro Meléndez (3) will also be on the court, while Jaume Romera and Pau Miñano (4) start a new chapter as a team. There are also 32 pairs in the women’s draw, led by Patricia Martínez and Marta Arellano. The second seeds are Eugenia Guimet and Sofía Saiz, followed by Ariadna and Alicia Cañellas.
