The law of ‘Chingalan’. Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez remain on the throne after Miami
April 18, 2026
Padel fans around the world could not have hoped for a more compelling day. The Premier Padel Newgiza P2 has crowned its champions: three out of four winners are the same as last year, with Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan triumphing in the men’s draw and Paula Josemaria in the women’s. This time, however, Josemaria is partnered by Bea Gonzalez: together they overcame the world number ones Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, as they had done in Miami, at the end of a closely contested final.
WOMEN It took Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez three hours and two minutes to defeat Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, in a match characterised by constant momentum shifts. Josemaria and Gonzalez now join Brea and Triay at the top of the 2026 titles ranking, repeating their Miami success thanks to a higher number of winners (60-49), which offset a greater number of unforced errors (57-44). The 6-4 5-7 6-4 scoreline reflects a highly unpredictable contest, with the third set marked by a sequence of breaks on both sides. In the end, however, it was Josemaria and Gonzalez who claimed the title under the pyramids. “Thank you all for the support”, said Josemaria, who won her 19th Premier Padel title, a record. “It was wonderful to play in front of such a crowd. Congratulations as well to our opponents: we played a complete match, always giving our best. We broke them, they broke us: everything happened”. “Our secret is bringing onto the court the relationship we have off it”, added Gonzalez. “We just need to keep working in this way”.
MEN In the men’s final, two sets were enough for Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan to secure another victory in Egypt, as they had done in 2025; the top seeds, in one hour and 31 minutes, defeated Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 6-4 6-1, who had won in 2024, with Stupaczuk also champion in 2022 alongside Pablo Lima. ‘Chingalan’ moved ahead by a break (3-1), were pegged back, but managed to pull away in a first set that was more balanced than the second, where their superior quality became evident. Stupaczuk, however, produced the standout point of the match, a defensive shot off the back wall that delighted the Egyptian crowd. “I’m very happy to have won another tournament, also in front of my family who travelled to Egypt to support me”, said Galan, who claimed the 56th Premier Padel title of his career, one more than Agustin Tapia. “We are playing at a very high level”, added Chingotto. “Leading the Race is certainly an important result: it reflects our work, but there are still many tournaments ahead where we will need to perform at our best”.
There is barely time to reflect on the Newgiza P2, as the circuit moves straight back to Europe for another important week. From Tuesday, the next P2 event will take place in Brussels.
