Salamanca, challenge and excitement for over 100 pairs
September 5, 2025
The NextGen stars take the spotlight in Salamanca, where one of the most anticipated stops of the FIP Promises Tour runs until Sunday. Over 100 pairs are registered, with eight draws in action (four men’s and four women’s) across the Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 categories. Many names already established in the international circuit for future champions stand out: in the Under-12 boys, Portuguese pair Salvador Condenso/Xavier Ré catch the eye, while in the girls’ draw Gema Posadas/Carmen Lopez lead the field. In the Under-14 category, all eyes are on Mario Brocal – winner of two stops in July and August and called up to the Spanish National Team for the FIP Junior World Cup at the end of September – this time playing with Adrian Gonzalez; among the girls, Martina Cabanillas/Clara Lorenzo are moving up.
Mario Brocal is also the player to beat in the Under-16, where he teams up with Jaime Rodriguez; in the girls’ draw, the hunt is on for the top seeds, Vega Cano/Carla Medio. In the Under-18, the spotlight is on 17-year-old Guillermo Fernández (who debuted last March on the Premier Padel circuit in the P2 Cancun qualifiers) alongside Sergio Tierno; among the girls of the same age, Sofía Pastor/Carlota Sanchez are leading the way.
